PROTECT YOUR HEALTH FOR A SAFER TRIP

Equip yourself with current, world-wide and location specific travel health information, vaccinations and medications

DID YOU KNOW...

· Hepatitis A is the most common preventable viral illness among travellers.

Unsuspecting travellers acquire Hepatitis A from consuming contaminated foods and water. Getting this virus can be as easy as enjoying a poolside Margarita . . . too bad the ice was contaminated.

· 50% of all unprotected travellers will get Travellers' Diarrhea on a two-week vacation.

Dodging bacteria-contaminated food and water during a trip can be like walking through a mine field. Although not usually fatal, getting Travellers' Diarrhea will unfortunately ensure you'll be touring the bathrooms.

· Malaria exists in one of Canada's favorite Caribbean vacation spots.

Malaria is not only found in exotic locations but currently active in such favorite destinations as the Dominican Republic. Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease that is serious and potentially fatal, especially to children and the elderly.

· Having lived in a particular country or region does not necessarily make you immune.

Many travellers visiting friends and relatives (VFR's) are also returning to their country of origin and have a false sense of security with respect to their immunity to local diseases. Often while living in Canada, the VFR's natural immunity to diseases such as Malaria wanes over time and hence, puts them at risk when they travel 'back home'.
